How often as Christians do we see something in the world and think to ourselves that it's not right, but then do nothing about it because we are afraid of being judged or ridiculed? It's true that we ought not to judge others, and it won't help anyone if we say, "Excuse me, actually, you're absolutely wrong about this. Let me set you straight." But should we just sit by silently when we hear of people being used? Of people letting themselves be used? Of homosexual relationships being the norm? Of money and materialism and selfishness being the gods that people worship?
We are called to love radically and live radically and spread the Truth radically, but sometimes we don't even do it at all. Our society is in crisis. Some of us are lucky enough to live in a community where it seems like nothing is in crisis, and we are content to coast along with everyone else. We cannot do this. We need to be constantly learning, constantly growing, and constantly sharing the Truth with everyone around us, not just people who agree with us.
I've been following the channel "Real Catholic TV" on Youtube. At first I found Michael Voris to be harsh and blunt, and I thought to myself that surely no one would even listen to him for being so severe. But I'm starting to think that he's on to something. It's true that we need to approach everyone we encounter with love and compassion, but maybe it's time to stop coddling and just speak the Truth. Sometimes there will be negative responses. This is unavoidable. But if you receive ninety-nine negative responses and just one positive response, isn't that positive response worth it?
